In 2003, a handful of Halliburton Baroid employees organized a sporting clays tournament to benefit a fellow employee whose family savings had been depleted by several serious and expensive surgeries. If LAGCOE Looey was intended to be a ceremonial job, Alfred "Al” Thomas II had other idea. Thomas, vice chairman of the board for Clean Energy Technology Associates Inc. and a lifelong oilman, has been a fixture at recent LAGCOE events since donning the Looey hardhat — first at the 2013 show and then for two years at LAGCOE meetings, many associated with LAGCOE’s Young Professionals group.

Charlie Moncla Jr. has joined the pantheon of LAGCOE Looeys and will preside over the 2015 petroleum industry bi-annual trade, training and networking extravaganza, slated to celebrate its 60th year Oct. 27-29 at the Cajundome. The 2013 show drew some 17,000 attendees from 47 states and 43 countries.

Make an energy inovation pitch at LAGCOE

LAGCOE has always focused on showcasing new technologies in the oil and gas industry. New for LAGCOE 2015 is the Energy Innovators Pitch Challenge — a "Shark Tank”-style pitch competition that will be held on Oct. 29. The event stems from a collaborative effort between LAGCOE, Innov8 Acadiana and LEDA’s Opportunity Machine. The challenge seeks to connect the best emerging energy innovators with investors ready to move their business ideas forward.
