Omar Mejia is the Technical and Operations Vice President for the National Hydrocarbons Agency of Colombia, ANH. In this role he is responsible for evaluation of the oil and gas potential of the country, planning and development of prospective areas as well as management of Colombia’s investments in new hydrocarbon resources. Mr. Mejia is temporarily in charge of overseeing the operations of all companies in Colombia, in order to assure the best value return to the Country. From 1988-2016 Mr. Mejia served in a variety of positions from production and gas plant engineer to operations manager to Vice President of Operations for Petrosantander Colombia Inc., an oil company dedicated to exploitation and operation of oil and gas mature oil fields. Petrosantander has had a joint venture with Ecopetrol for approximately 50 years and has operations in Brazil, the US and Romania. Mr. Mejia graduated as a Petroleum Engineer from Universidad Industrial de Santander, Bucaramanga, Colombia. He has earned specializations in gas engineering and energy resources, holds an executive MBA from the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia, as well as Interntional Petroleum Management Certificate, Boston, MA and Advance Management Program, Madrid, Spain.
