Women in Energy: Oluwatope Adeyemi

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, it is crucial to recognize the invaluable contributions of women in the energy industry. Among these exceptional individuals is Oluwatope Adeyemi, Wells Operation Superintendent at Alpharetta Oil & Gas Worldwide Services, whose journey exemplifies resilience, determination, and mentorship.

With over 18 years of experience in the oil & gas sector, Oluwatope has emerged as a trailblazer in her field. Reflecting on her journey, Oluwatope attributes the industry’s positive impact on her life and career to various factors, including the fulfilling nature of her work and the opportunities for growth and development. “I’d always wanted to work on a rig. The training I received helped me to build confidence and overcome my shyness. I grew from someone who was intimidated by others to someone who is not intimidated by anyone”, Oluwatope expressed.

When asked about her advice to young girls aspiring to pursue STEM-centric careers, Oluwatope emphasized the importance of perseverance and self-belief. “Go for it. Do not let anyone say that you can’t do it or that it’s not for you. If you put your mind to it, you can achieve it.”

In her efforts to pave the way for other women in the energy industry, Oluwatope is deeply committee to mentoring and empowering the next generation of female engineers. She has started various initiatives, including mentoring a group for female engineering students, where they have access to her expertise and guidance. Additionally, Oluwatope readily extends her support to female engineers outside of her group, serving as an open book who shares her experiences and insights without hesitation. Oluwatope actively participates in sessions involving young engineers, both female and male, demonstrating her dedication to fostering inclusivity and diversity in the industry.

As we honor the achievements and contributions of women in the energy sector this Women’s History Month, let us draw inspiration from trailblazers like Oluwatope Adeyemi, whose passion, resilience, and mentorship continue to shape the future of the energy industry.
