In celebration of Women’s History Month, Lagcoe is proud to shine a spotlight on the remarkable women who have made significant strides in the energy industry, contributing their expertise, innovation, and leadership to drive progress and shape the future of this critical sector.

Brenda Montalvo stands out among these exceptional women as the Regulatory Director at QuarterNorth Energy LLC/HSER. With a remarkable career spanning 25 years in the energy industry, Brenda has demonstrated unwavering dedication, resilience, and expertise in her role. Managing and overseeing all Gulf of Mexico permitting for federal offshore leases regulated by agencies such as BSEE, BOEM, and USCG, Brenda has navigated complex regulatory landscapes with determination. Her expertise and dedication have played a pivotal role in maintaining strong, positive working relationships with industry stakeholders and external decision-makers, ensuring no permit delays throughout her career.

Brenda’s journey in the industry began in 1999, as a receptionist at a consulting company, where she quickly rose through the ranks to become a Regulatory Specialist. Over the years, she has honed her skills, put in countless hours of hard work, and earned promotions through her outstanding performance. Despite facing challenges, Brenda remained assertive, ensuring her voice was heard and her contributions recognized. As the Regulatory Director at QuarterNorth Energy, Brenda oversees all Gulf of Mexico permitting for federal offshore leases. Her expertise extends to dealing with agencies like BSEE, BOEM, and USCG. Brenda's journey includes pivotal moments, such as leading ENI to obtain the fourth drilling permit in the Gulf of Mexico post-Macondo.

When asked about the impact of the energy industry on her life and career, Brenda reflected, “I absolutely love what I do, specifically when I am challenged. Being part of a core team that executes projects from the beginning and watches them flourish in the end is incredibly rewarding. This industry is huge, but also very small when it comes to people, and I love being a part of that.”

Throughout her career, Brenda has not only achieved professional success but also paved the way for other women in the industry by sharing her challenges and successes with those she has worked closely with. “By sharing my experiences,” Brenda emphasized, “I hope to inspire and empower fellow women to navigate their careers with confidence and resilience.”

Brenda’s dedication extends beyond her professional endeavors; she is also a devoted mother and supportive wife. Brenda carries forward the values instilled in her – belief in oneself, humility, and putting people first. She attributes much of her success to her work family, emphasizing the importance of treating others with respect and fostering a supportive environment.
