W. R. "Bill" Angelle

Mr. Angelle was born in Breaux Bridge, LA. on August 18th, 1927, and has resided in Lafayette since 1957. He was a veteran of World War II serving in 1944 and 45 as a radio tail gunner in the United States Navy.

Mr. Angelle was employed in the oil and gas industry and started his career with Humble Oil then as district manager for Sperry Sun. In 1960 he started L.O.R. and Oilfield Machine and Tools both of which provided downhole tools for the drilling aspect of the industry. He sold the company to New Park mining in 1970 and remained as president until 1973.  During his career in oil and gas he was chairman of LAGCOE from 190-1991 also of the Louisiana Gulf Coast Oilman's Golf Tournament and served on the Board of directors for the Petroleum club of Lafayette. He was active in many ways events throughout his time in the industry. After his retirement from the oil and gas business he and wife Jean started Jo's restaurant in Broussard, LA which quickly gained an outstanding reputation for great food which came as no surprise as he was known throughout the oilfield for his culinary skills. He then sold Jo's and opened a restaurant in the oil center called Remy's. This also rapidly gained popularity and a year later he sold this restaurant as well.
