In order to meet the growing demands for energy, the industry has continued to make discoveries in more and more complex environments. These frontier areas brought operating challenges that required new technology and innovation. However, we now find ourselves in a world that is changing faster than ever before. In order to adapt and grow along with it, we must accelerate our uptake of both new and existing technologies and push the boundaries of what is possible. Challenging our traditional way of thinking will only make our industry better and allow us to continue to provide the energy that fuel human progress.
The drilling industry stands at a period of unprecedented change and disruption. Kevin Krausert will walk through a history of energy technology and transitions while illuminating the lessons it teaches us to help build a brave, new energy future for the drilling industry. A particular focus will be made on The Avatar Program, the ground-breaking collaboration between Beaver Drilling, the University of Calgary, 5 major E&P’s and the aerospace company Virgin Galactic accelerating new technology and new business models in the drilling industry.
The address will focus on current forecasts for oil over the long term and examine the Macro view of the oil markets. The second portion of the talk will focus on the future technologies needed in the offshore arena.
