Desmond Cheng
Senior Commercial Specialist

Desmond Cheng started his career as Commercial Specialist in the Embassy in 1975. Presently, he is the Senior Commercial Specialist and is responsible for the following industry sectors: defense, aerospace/aviation, safety and security, oil and gas, transportation and automotive.

He earned a B.Sc. (Honors) degree in Chemistry from the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur in 1974. In 2003, he received the ITA Bronze Honor Award for Outstanding FSN Professional Employee - the highest honorary recognition conferred by the ITA Under-Secretary - in Washington D.C. He has also received several awards from the Embassy, including the FSN of The Year Award in 1989 and the Superior Honor Awards in 2002 and 2003.
