LAGCOE job fair has range of seminars

Oct 25, 2015

Though there won’t be as many companies hiring people at LAGCOE job fair this week as there were two years ago, planners have lined up a range of seminars to help those looking for work.

The 2015 Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exhibition’s Career Fair starts Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Cajundome Arena with seminars scheduled throughout the day.

Among a host of employment sessions this week are those designed to help applicants build ré sumés, get interviews and stay motivated during the job search.

There also is a 90-minute session to help companies recruit and keep women in the workplace.

There also is a workshop geared to military veterans seeking employment.

LAGCOE Executive Director Angela Cring said there will be far fewer employers looking for workers this year than in 2013. She said there were up to 30 employers looking for workers two years ago. This year, she said, eight companies have signed up.
