Challenges of Deepwater Intervention Operation and Benefits of Motion Compensation in the Gulf of Mexico

Technology selection plays a key role in enabling safe, reliable and cost-efficient operations in the Gulf of Mexico. Exposure and experience across 13 years of global post-completion intervention will be presented; including challenges faced with associated solutions and operational results provided by DevinTM through five case studies:

  1. Using a motion compensation tower for coiled tubing and wireline services post-Katrina
  2. Delivering service, maintenance and operation of a motion compensating coiled tubing lift frame for offshore operations
  3. Providing a compensation well intervention tower in support of HWO for a three well intervention program onboard a floating spar platform
  4. Implementing a cantilevered well intervention tower for a downed platform subsea coiled tubing and wireline plug and abandon (P&A) campaign
  5. Installing a Direct Line Compensator (DLC) package allowing an operator to successfully clean up paraffin and scale in two wells
