LAGCOE Education Fund

LAGCOE has established the LAGCOE Education Fund, a Fund at Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA). Contributions are welcomed and appreciated. Donations to the newly instituted fund, managed by CFA, are tax deductible and will be used to expand LAGCOE's organization purpose of "fostering public education of the function and services of the oil industry for promotion of the oil industry as a whole and for encouragement of, and retention of the oil industry in the Louisiana area."

LAGCOE purposes for the fund include projects that serve to educate the public or the industry and may include, but are not limited to scholarships, educational presentations, support of STEM schools, public outreach, workforce development programs and career fairs.

In June 2014, LAGCOE awarded the inaugural Future Energy Professionals Scholarship, funded by the LAGCOE Education Fund, to two Lafayette parish high school students. Emily Duplechain (Ascension Episcopal High School) and David LaCour (St. Thomas More Catholic High School) were awarded $10,000 each, to be paid over five years of undergraduate study in a STEM major at a Louisiana university.
