Latin America Business Unit (LABU) Facilities Engineering Manager

Sergio Hoyos is the Latin America Facilities Engineering Manager. In this capacity, he is responsible for Capital Stewardship and Operational Excellence for the Facilities Engineering function in LABU. Indirect reports include FE Manager and team leaders from LABU areas of operation: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, (WV and EV), and Trinidad and Tobago. FE Managers are responsible for execution of engineering construction activities, executing with excellence, and bringing safety and integrity value to the business. Previously Sergio served as Upstream Project Manager Major Capital Projects in Trinidad and Tobago and Eastern Venezuela. From 2016 to 2012, Sergio joined the Chevron Technology Ventures emerging group as Business Development Manager and he was responsible for developing the first Solar to Steam facility in the world and the only solar tower in operation in the US for enhanced oil recovery, located in Coalinga, CA. Prior to joining the Emerging Energy group, Mr. Hoyos was a Director of Business Development for Cinergy/Duke Energy where he was responsible for developing cogeneration and combined heat and power projects for industrials in North America. Past positions include BP Global Power – Director Business Development, Amoco Power Resources Corporation – Vice President, Business Development and CSW Energy – Project Development His background includes in-depth experience in all phases of business development including identification and prioritization of projects, establishment of appropriate financing mechanisms, management of projects, and oversight of engineering, procurement, and construction. Sergio was born in Colombia. He has lived and worked in Brazil, Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago. He speaks three languages and has experience in the protocol of conducting business in the Latin America culture. Sergio earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University. His educational and professional development includes Principles of Project Financing, Energy Manager Training and Miller Heiman Strategic Selling.
